In which area to stay in Rome + Hotel tips

Are you going to Rome for a weekend? Then choose a strategic location to stay. There are different neighborhoods. Nice neighborhoods are Trastevere, Vatican City, Monti and Testaccio. We chose a hotel close to Termini Station in the Municipio I district. From this location it is ideal to explore Rome. Stay at least three, but preferably four nights in Rome if possible. I will give you my hotel tips. If family or friends have to pick you up from the airport, the flightradar from VluchtVolgen24.nl will keep them up-to-date.

Municipio I neighborhood

In Rome you will use public transport a number of times. The metro to the Colosseum, or the bus to Vatican City. Termini station is a strategic location. It is the starting point for all bus lines and metro lines. Ideal if you only have a few days in Rome. Hereby my hotel and hostel tips for Termini in Rome.

  • The Colosseum is a 30-minute walk away
  • Trevi Fountain a 25-minute walk away
  • Vatican City 15 minutes away by metro

My Hotel Tip: Amoroma Suite from €65 per night

A nice guest house with modern rooms. Amoroma Suite is located 500 meters from the train station and from there you can get anywhere in Rome. Prices are very reasonable. From € 65 per night including breakfast! The rooms have air conditioning and a private bathroom. Guests rate this property with an 8.7!

Also very nice: Villa Delle Rose *** from €50 per night

Good Hotel Rome

Villa Delle Rose is a historic house and a real family hotel. They have a nice cozy garden and there is free Wi-Fi throughout. This hotel is less than a 5-minute walk from Roma Termini Train Station. The rooms are great and have air conditioning and a private bathroom. You can sleep here from € 50 per night including breakfast. Other guests rate this property with a 7.7.

Nice Hostel: Palladini Hostel Rome from €22 per night

Do you prefer spending the night really cheap? Then Palladini Hostel Rome is a nice tip. Palladini Hostel is located just 200 meters from Termini Train Station. There are various dormitories (also separate ones for women) with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and a living room with a TV. The reception is open 24 hours a day. You can sleep here for as little as € 22 a night. Other guests rate this hostel with an 8.

Trastevere District

The Trastevere neighborhood is perhaps the nicest part of Rome. It is a very nice neighborhood with many squares, fountains and restaurants. The atmosphere is very nice. The location in relation to the sights is slightly less ideal, but you can easily get there by bus or metro.

  • Trevi fountain a 30-minute walk
  • Vatican City a 30-minute walk

My Hotel Tip: Locanda Sonnino from €90 per night

Locanda Sonnino is a guesthouse where you immediately feel at home. The rooms are luxurious and new, but very cozy. The rooms have air conditioning and a private bathroom. You sleep here from € 90 and get a deluxe room. Other guests rate this accommodation with a 9+! Excellent!

Also Hip: YHR Suite 51 from €60 per night

Stay super clean and modern in Rome at YHR Suite 51. The YHR Suite 51 is set in a 19th-century building in Rome’s old center, 500 meters from the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere. Rooms have air conditioning, a nice bathroom and free Wi-Fi. You can already sleep here for € 60 a night including breakfast. Other guests rate this property with an 8.3.

Nice Hostel: Hostel Trustever from €25 per night

Hostel Trustever is a nice hostel in the heart of Trastevere. Cozy rooms, comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. Hostel Trustever has a garden, terrace and air-conditioned rooms and dorms with free Wi-Fi. Rome Trastevere Station is 650 meters away. A continental breakfast buffet is served daily. You can sleep here from € 25 per person and other guests are very satisfied. This hostel scores an 8.3 on Booking.com.
